SPE Cares - Orangutan (Taymur)

As part of our commitment to nature, SPE Balikpapan Section participated in the adoption program for an orangutan named Taymur incorporated with Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation. The orangutans are great apes native to Borneo and Sumatera but it found some are taken from the forest habitat for illegal international trade.

Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of the Borneo orangutan and its habitat and currently has programs such us rescue, rehabilitation, reintroduction, and conservation. (https://lnkd.in/gD5x9tr).

Taymur was a victim of the illegal international wildlife trade and was being kept as a pet. He was then repatriated to Indonesia and now in excellent condition and progressing well in Forest School, where he is learning vital forest survival skills.

Our Section participated in the adoption program to help to provide care and rehabilitation for orangutan.
