SPE Balikpapan Section successfully organized 2 events in January 2021.

  1. SPE Cares (Donation for Yaumiddin Orphanage)

SPE Cares is one of the SPE Balikpapan Section program as a platform for community service. On January 24, 2021 some of our members went to Yaumiddin Orphanage KM 24, Balikpapan. Yaumiddin Orphanage is a home for 37 children, we went there and donated some school bags, stationaries, foods, story books, new clothes, tumblers, and toys.

                 

 

  1. SPE DL European CO2 Storage Resources Requirements of Climate Change Mitigation Targets

On 29 January 2021, SPE Balikpapan Section held a webinar with the theme European CO2 Storage Resources Requirements of Climate Change Mitigation Targets. The webinar discussed about the research on the effect of Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) technology efficiency to mitigate the climate change. The webinar was presented by Azka Aulia Nadhira, Petroleum Engineering Graduate from Imperial College of London. Ms. Azka introduce the Logistic Model Analysis to project the CO2 storage model in order to identify if the current CCS technology sufficient to reach the 2050 Carbon Storage Targets or any improvement in CCS technology need to be applied to reach the reach global targets to limit the warming temperature to 1.5 - 2⁰C. The event was attended by more than 30 participants.
