SPE International is the largest individual member organization serving managers, engineers, scientist, and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry. It has more than 156,000 members in 154 countries participate in 203 sections and 383 student chapters. SPE’s membership includes 72,000 student members.
SPE International mission is to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources, and related technologies for the public benefit; and to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence. To achieve our mission, SPE International has section as its branch located around the world and provide an operating framework for all major society activities. Sections are semi-autonomous units and self-governing within the framework of SPE policies. Section members elect officers and directors annually. Sections are organized into regions, and each region has representation on the SPE Board of Directors.
SPE Balikpapan Section was established since 2000 with aims to contribute to local education and professional members in oil and gas industry. We have donated more than 2 Billions rupiah for student scholarships and connected professionals with university students through our knowledge sharing programs. Our boards members are mainly volunteers coming from different backgrounds.
